Who I am and what I stand for.
Dr Mareike Suesse is an HCPC-registered Consultant Clinical Psychologist based in Cambridgeshire and online.
My psychological approach is based on a solid academic background, paired with substantial clinical experience and an outlook of compassion, openness and hope.

I am trained in and can deliver a wide range of therapies. I completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Radically-Open DBT, as well as EMDR (Stage 4) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). I also have further training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). My training and specialist experience encompasses cognitive and memory assessments as well as specific forensic tools including risk assessments, such as the HCR-20 and RSVP.

I work with all psychological difficulties, and have a wealth of experience with a wide range of presenting problems, including where there are forensic and risk issues, co-morbidities, traumas, and medical issues. I am happy to work jointly with other professionals where a person requires more wrap-around support.

My experience spans community and inpatient mental health services in the NHS as well as with a range of major private providers.

I welcome therapy and assessment referrals of all types, between short-term therapy and executive coaching, to longer-term, trauma-focused interventions.

My couples work is based on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. This helps couples rediscover their special connection by helping couples discover the unique patterns which undermine their connectedness.

The foundation of my therapeutic work lies in extensive academic training. I gained my doctorate from Oxford University, as well as completing a degree in Natural Sciences (Experimental Psychology & Ethics of Medicine) from the University of Cambridge; an MSc in Clinical Forensic Psychology from King's College London, and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of East London.

Prior to becoming a clinical psychologist, I worked as a management consultant, advising a range of public and private companies and their leaders. I draw on my experience as a management consultant in my organisational consultancy work. My consultancy expertise includes reflective practice; strategic redevelopment; training needs analyses; and solution-focused work around workplace culture and leadership.
